Pre 1974 dipstick picture

Postby CoupeFan » Sun Oct 08, 2017 12:45 pm

I believe the seal on my 1973 dipstick has shifted. I remember it being further down, on the straight part. It's now frozen on the slight angled kink further up. Of course it now 'reads' 1/2" under the minimum oil level mark. Any pictures would be appreciated of one in the proper position. Or a measurement.

On my 1973 1592, the top of the rubber seal flange is right at the angled bend. A measurement from the bottom of the rubber flange to the end of the dipstick is almost exactly 9 inches. If I recall correctly, a full load of 4 quarts puts it right to the "full" mark.

Hope this helps.
