mystery smoke

Postby herman » Fri Jun 30, 2017 8:32 am

Any idea I was enjoying a nice cruise on a sunny day by my- self engine purring like a big kitten [lion] and then, I hit the gas hard the amount of smoke that came out the exhaust I thought I blew the engine then it stopped as quick as it started pulled over checked oil checked for leaks checked gauges all good no oil under car. This as happened once before same thing cruising along hit gas hard incredible amount of smoke came out the exhaust and again stopped as quick as it started the first time I though it was because the car sat all winter in both occasions the car was running great before the smoke and continue to run great after the smoke. Guessing may-be a value

Sounds like blow by. Have you over filled her with oil? Check inside the air filter housing and see if there is oil in there.

The 2.0L takes 4.25 qts. It doesn't take much more than that to cause smoke clouds under WOT.

Could be brake fluid pulling in past a leaking brake booster? What color is the smoke? A sudden vacuum change would cause ti to pull past a small leak via the booster vacuum connection. How is the brake feel / effort?

The color was a light blue, can't recall what the brakes feel like I will look at brake fluid and keep a eye on the level
