My spider airs on local TV documentary

Postby AriK » Thu Jun 01, 2017 12:14 am

A local TV program is featuring my Spider as this week's "legend" as the name of the program implies, Legendes de la Route, every week a new legend is introduced. The broadcast serves to compare the original Spider to the 2017 model, and then the 2017 model with its Mazda counterpart (however, no Mazda test-run, but they seem familiar with it).
As you will notice the opening credits feature various examples of past legends, all of them falling into the super-car or  notable head-turners.  So i was pretty flattered when i was approached to have my car used on the show.  It  really shows that the Fiat 124 Spider has evolved from the inexpensive sportscar class to a legend of higher distinction.  This coming from two experienced car connoisseurs who are not Fiat guys but appreciate the brand.
Documented is the history of the brand  in relation to Ford and Ferrari and so are the eventual politics of Fiat rescuing troubled Chrysler.
Unfortunately the show is in French but the amazing photoshoots and image insets easily get you to the point and make the documentary fun to watch.  To our European friends from France and Belgium, please excuse the dialect.

Notable comments on the old model:

A spirited feel being behind the wheel...
It's not a question of driving a powerhouse, there's much fun-factor  involved...
Car with a great personality, bubbly, good sound, everything you need is there...
At ease with more room than the 2017 model...

Notable comments on the new model:

More of a thrill with the Italian motor being in the Fiat than the Japanese motor being in the Mazda...
The turbo brings a better delivery, one that you cannot find in the MX-5...
Marriage between Fiat and Mazda is perfect, what we like in Mazda is there, and the Fiat has just that little bit more...
The Fiat is a bit more masculin than the Mazda...

If I understand well, you need to put a turbo in your Fiat to have the best of both worlds?
I think, I will agree

Thank you for the compliments everyone. Maybe that episode will help increase the dwindled population of Fiats in my area.

It was a pleasure having both of you at the cottage after the ICCO BBQ. Too bad we didn't have more time, we could have taken the Gatineau parkway to get up there. But I wanted to make sure we had time to get in a "Club poutine".
Knowing the movie star status of AriKs' ride, I insisted that he overnight his Spider it in the "Fiat Drive" garage. Phaetn and I roofed up to deal with the morning dew. What a great sound the next morning as the boys took off back to town. The echo of phaetns' muffler bouncing off the hills/lake was amazing. Now I know what I sound like when I round the lake.
Hopefully we can do it again sometime and get 4uall and Canadan to join us.
Black flies should be gone by then...

Everything okay, Ari?

Looking forward to seeing you this weekend at the Raduno Montebello car show, along with Serge. It's supposed to be absolutely beautiful weather!
