1970 124

Postby fiat218 » Fri Mar 10, 2017 7:16 am

I have a chance to go pick up a 70, for 350.00 15 hrs away
I do want it, body from photos shows all straight, wheel flares look nice and painted no bubbles, etc
I know photos are deceiving, but this is all i have to see, all parts are in place on the body, top looks awesome , inside the seats are ripped worn, i seen one , dash looks really nice, center console is not beat up nor the upper, has a radio, lol as if that matters

Bad thing is was in a flood, I don't know how, where, why. But u can see the engine is muddy ( dried mud, dirt
I don't really car about the engine or tranny, i have 2 here any ways. I just figure by the time i go get it and travel, 600 for it wont be bad ,

Has a title too.

looks like a 1438. I love those wheels on the cars. I'd certainly consider something like that at that price if it were close-ish, in general...though for some reason I've never felt compelled to own more than one Spider...send me the wheels if you dont' want them!

Seats came out good, seat rails are not rusty they do slide, rail on the floors are great, console cleaned up nice,
No rust on the floor at all, I am removing all the insulation and so forth, driver side was wet and froze, passenger side dry as if never was wet, lights work

Engine is froze, I did see rust on the cam lobe , I'm thinking being this car is great shape that I would just get the engine that in it redone, if that is possible, I guess pending how the cylinder walls are right! Or what

No wires have been cut under the dash or behind the upper console, and the wires leading to the fan heater switch, those wires where all tied down in there original place ,behind metal tabs on the console,

First time ever have I seen nice clean fitted wires, meaning they have rubber boots over the connection, and a boot on the key ignition , that the first

There have been a lot of cars around here in the northeast after Tropical Storm Sandy made her way up the coast a few years ago.
Lots of mud inside the panels, mold, seized engines - but that one doesn't look so bad.
I'd have paid that just for the bumpers and lights.
Well done!
