Jim, please don't be offended but that much water creates quite a bit of damage.

I once owned a detail shop and would take in some cars that had just been in rising water. Seats and carpeting were removed to dry and insulation thrown away. Every electrical connection opened and dried because they rust quickly and most other electrical parts are probably scrap. Starter, relays, alternator...

Rust will happen in the most unlikely unreachable places that will haunt you.

I think it is a great parts car and you got a good deal.

Just my opinion.

Thanks for your input, but I have not looked at a lot of stuff yet, but I will say this, the engine does run, how good? I don't know that yet, wires? From what I have seen there no corrosion on them ( as to what I have seen only )

Well i got the gas tank in and as i was putting it i must have hit the filler tube and rust fell out, well I'm glad that happen, i never even thought about that, so i swap that one out with my 69 filler,until i get the other tube replaced with a new one,well it took me 3 hrs to get that tank in, but that was starting when i first went to the garage till i was done, then i got the oil pump and pan on, that was no fun at all( thanks to beek for the tips along the way )
Now today i will get the engine mounts in,fuel pump, water pump,and put the radiator in and new oil/filter , i want to see if this will idle yet today, if not there is Monday

I got the wrong fuel pump, so I will get another, no start today :)

Another shipment of parts coming for the 70, .then one more after that
Once i get it running ,i am taking it in to get a clutch put in and switch out the transmission with one that has been gone thru and cleaned , then of course they will install the new stuff for the drive line
New carb in it way from direct carb, i changed out the intake, that was a night mare, blinds side getting the nuts off, then the vapor separator was in the way to get the intake off, so i had to remove that, then the starter was in the way so i had to remove that and unhook the gas pedal linkage off the firewall. Then it finally came off

Just to clarify. I was not sent the wrong pump, i was putting it in upside down, and i was looking at the pump that was in the car and comparing the arm with the new one, they where completely different,
But as i said, i was installing ( tried) wrong, i felt like a idiot :roll:

Change out the intake and starter
Pain in the ass to take the intake off,Starter had to come out,so did the vaper seperator,
What a pain to get it back in,I should say get that bolt started,
That all in,,I finally got gas coming thru the pump,maybe is was sucking air, I really don't know what happen,
Anyways, waiting for the carb next. I will get this all in and running, then Oder my final parts,

In some areas of the country its considered a criminal offense to fix up a car thats been submerged or in a flood and then resell it. A Pennsilvania Title used to be one of the warning sign's on an out of state car that it was in a flood and then registered in Pennsilvania to get the flood cleared from the title.

Some insurance and warranty companies may void poilicies on cars found to be restored flood damaged.

I agree with Mike. To me a parts car at best with every part just about in need of dissasembly and remanufacturing. Good for cores and castings. Every hidden pocket in the unitbody will be suspect for integrity issues and every bearing will need replacing. All wiring and electrical component is history.

Well you maybe right. But, i honestly have only seen one wire that was greenish corroded, that was the driver side side light,so far all the wires ends that i have seen where still shinny not rust. So far so good. I will not part this out

I knew the day i seen it, that id have to replace engine,tranny,all brakes completely, all wheel bearing, all suspension,gas tank, maybe even the floor pan. But so far a lot of things are good

Hi Jim,
This is a totally unrelated reply to your post, but I have a query regarding the Roosevelt alloy wheels on your car?
I have the same on my spider but am missing two of the bolts to hold them on.
They seem to be particular to this rim, as the seat they fix into is unlike other period rims?
Are yours the same, and if so, did you get any spares that you would sell?
$350 for the complete car is amazing value, water damaged or not.
That would get you nothing in Australia.

I stoled my gear reduction starter from my parts for my other 69 and put it in the 70
Yes i will buy another one
Anyways i notice yesterday whil i will looking for a nut that fumbled out of my fingers, that the starter is against my steering box. I do have new engine mounts in the car, they are the lower set/ would that matter.i never seen where the started is to close to the steering box

Also i notice when i turn the engine over and let go of the key,i hear the gear still spinning, is that normal ?
