dual carbs for my 1608

My friend and i recently picked up a cheap bc coupe in need of restoration so while we figure out which one of us will get to it I snagged the idf 40s 13/15 set and the manifold. I am going to restore the carbs and put them on my 71. I will document the process here.

Does anyone have jetting specs for the Euro IDFs that sat on the 1608?

Id like to either re jet anew or at least understand where Im at in relation...

Hi George, I have a question on this. I also have a 71 spider and just found an IDF/Waffle/Turtleback setup. My car has the flat hood. Did you have any hood clearance issues when you installed the carbs? Did you use a Turtleback Air Filter assembly? Thanks for any advice you could give!

Hi Mike, I haven't done it yet...nor do I have a turtleback. I would be using individual cleaners likely the oval ones AR sells with the foam filter. I gave them to my friend to restore for me and he hasn't gotten to it yet...

The flat hood won’t work with the turtle back air cleaner. You need the small bump hood for that little bit of extra clearance. Ask me how I know.
I have dual IDFs with the standard lunch box air cleaners and I can see on the underside of the flat hood where the top of the air cleaner rubs the paint

Since the turtle back is much wider and sits at a slight angle the hood won’t close with it in place.

I think someone mentioned using Volvo motor mounts to drop the engine a bit but you need to be mindful of the oil pan and crossmember clearance
