I'm building up a 2L with 9.8 compression and I'm wondering if I need a high performance head gasket.
The car has stock fuel injection now, but that will be upgraded in the near future.

only if you want to prevent head gasket failures in the future. Along with the gasket the block and head must be flat with the proper surface finish and bolts that provide the proper torque, a cooling system that functions correctly and a tune that doesn't cause detonation
