Hey John,

Have you heard from the 14point7 guy?

I ordered my Spartan2 on July 15 and it had not arrived. No response from my email yet.

I'm piss because summer is short and there was a AEM on ebay fast shipping to the border for the same price... At least, we will have a led to check the temperature of the sensor. And he extend the 25% off promotion for me.

Hey John,

How is your unit working?

My signal was very unstable and reading lean. A new unit is in the way.

My unit is more stable if you compare from MTX-L but i'm still waiting for my gauge so I can close my center console.

I appreciate your following along on this thread and your input is very helpful.

It is likely I interpreted the maps incorrectly. Below are the original maps I was using to create my map. It doesn't help that my French is very poor and both documents are in French only. I assumed that the maps were all I needed.

Looking at these maps in light of your comments, I feel that I have this exactly backwards!! By reversing the readings it makes sense but I still cannot figure how to read this correctly.

These are the Lancia Trevia digiplex documents. This is a 2L engine developing 115Hp in 1982. Close to North American spec Spiders.

So after all that, i will follow sound advice and replicate the mechanical advance curve as below.

Timinator, I did not understand where to taper to 42. can you suggest an area of the map please?

Hi! Did u stay on this one?

I aslo tryed to use with vacum sensor, but as i have 2 duble carbs with short runners - vacum values is not stable at all.

On idle u have the same?

The 10 deg at idle assumes the use of the vac advance, which can add 15deg on top of the 10 at low speeds.

If you do not use the vac advance, then u want more advance at idle, perhaps 15 deg or so, maybe 18. Listen for knocking under load at 2500-4000 rpm.

Full 36 deg advance in at 4000. This info comes from Guy Croft books.

hi KirillZip,

Fun car, I love an angry Lada!

Nut124 is correct, you want approx 15 degrees total advance at idle so it depends on where you are starting from.

My current setup has 33 degrees at 3000 RPM and a max of 37. This is all without any boost.

That sounds right to me. For maximum power, you want the maximum cylinder pressure to be reached a few degrees after TDC, when the piston starts to head back down. You want the fuel to be fully burned by the time the piston reaches 20 degrees ATDC or so. All this depends on the fuel and compression ratio (flame speed), cylinder size (larger takes longer to fully burn), and engine speed.

High compression or boosted engines require adjustments to avoid detonation. And of course there's fuel economy, engine life, emissions, etc. to think about. Complicated, yes, but 10 to 15 degrees static advance at idle (no vacuum advance) and full advance of 36 or 37 degrees has worked best for my stock non-turbo Fiats.
