Back from FFO 2015. AriK, 4Uall, and I made the trip. Spiderdan accompanied us for the first leg on the way down, basically to the US border.

For 4uall and I: 560 miles (900km) each way . A bit more for AriK from Montreal (Laval) who put on 1,000kms each way (600 miles). Plus add mileage for the 2.5 hour drive in very rolling terrain in PA from Pittsburgh to Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Water structure, and night tours of Pittsburgh, etc. We definitely put the cars through their paces!

I left at 92, 052 miles and now the odometer reads 93,453. Not one hiccup over 1401 miles with my car. I'll let others mention their experiences. :)

Cruised most of the time at 70-75mph, with a few bursts up to 90mph. Great power when called for, especially when going up inclines at highway speed. My car rocks. It's not pretty for paint, and it's certainly not original, but it was rock-solid. Only one minor issue was today, at its very hottest (3:30pm or so) and after the car had been running at highway speeds for over six hours, when the idle dropped a little low when waiting at a toll booth; I suspect it was from a very hot engine and carb that might have been vapourizing some of the fuel in the bowl. Or maybe it was something else. It was totally fine on the highway and cleared up later.

The way down was interesting and took forever because of three thunderstorms -- lots of top up, top down behavior, plus near-zero visibility at one point which was quite harrowing. But we made it. Much smoother on the way back, just damned hot. :)

More details, photos, and videos at a later date. Have to crash after an 11 hour road trip today. :)

Cheers,
phaetn

I would like to thank 4uall and phaetn for making this trip so enjoyable. Without their participation i would never have attempted such a long drive by myself. This road trip is remarkable proof that our cars have the robustness and dependability required for such. I have gained so much confidence as a result. It wasn't just about the roadtrip and parking lot parties, the activities in and around Pittsburgh involved much stress on the cars due to its very hilly terrain. I swear i was on this incline to the lookout over downtown, second gear the whole way up was the only way to navigate it. And those traffic lights in Pittsburgh...there must have been a 4 minute wait per...what's with that??? So, hot weather, hills all over the place, extended idling, our cars were put to the test.
I discovered new glitches, first time i drove through thunderstorms, leaky top for one, my reverse lights quit for some reason, not a biggie. The morning after arrival i opened the hood to discover an engine bay full of oil. Not a nice sight to wake up to so far away from home, but a quick fix in the parking lot involved removing a cam cover in order to flip the gasket upside down with a strategic application of gasket sealant, The oil filler gasket got the same procedure w/o the sealant of course. The leak was reduced to a staggering zero. Many thanks to FFO participant Dale Crandall for helping me through that and to phaetn for supplying me another throttle linkage clip when mine got lost through the intake opening into the pit of despair.
Although i cleaned up the starter bullet connectors a couple of weeks before the trip, i encountered the click of death at a 4 minute traffic light shortly after departing for a 100 mile activity risking the Fiats behind me from getting disconnected from the group. Thankfully for 4uall push-starting me in a manner we hope never to repeat (bumperless cars eat your hearts out!) and thanks to phaetn for phoning in instructions to rejoin the group, with some heavy driving we reconnected. Naturally, now that i'm home i cannot replicate the problem.
The Saturday showing at Shenley Park was impressive under the blazing sun. There was about 150 Fiats in their own section sharing the park with about 4000 cars from all other makes all overlooking a track with live Grand Prix racing. Definetely alot of logistics put into this event. Great day, great week, great people!

Question of the day: How many Fiats do you see in this pic?

Yeah, there was a bunch of them buzzing around.

The show was huge, they said 4000 cars. I guess this was a Fiat only drone.

We had Lambo's and Ferrari's on both sides of us.

That part was a bit disappointing. I envy the past photos where everyone was posing with the cars showing in the background. The drone appeared but there should have been an anouncement for everyone to shut their hoods nd trunks and take appropriate position.

Hillary 0:42?

Totally, but I didn't want to mention it in case it caused trouble. Why don't you show everyone the calendars that she was looking at?!? :D

While my mug and voice made it, my car didn't. Well, sort of. It's there at 1:11 with the closeup of the Pininfarina badge. I can tell this is my car b/c of the rusty screw.
