Charlotte's Web: Local Spiders

Postby giuliot60 » Mon Nov 19, 2012 2:01 pm

Calling all Charlotte area Spiders!

I'm starting this post so we can gather all the Spiders (and other Fiats) and their owner's info.

I'd like to have a meet and greet sometime soon, possibly in early spring 2013.

Attach a photo of your car and make sure you select "Notify me when a reply is posted" below when you post a reply so you will be notified of other Charlotte area Spider owners' posts, and eventually a meet date.

Thanks!

dammit...not working too well right now. I should really be paying more attention in class rather than trying to figure out the website. Maybe later.

You certainly are welcome.

Aren't you the person who bought Russell's copper 82?

The funny thing is, when I was looking for a Spider this spring, most of the available cars were in the Raleigh area.

Yes, I bought it this past spring. An alternator, a water pump, electrical work and soon suspension and tires plus a bumper removal later...

But I have had a lot of fun. Were you the buyer from Charlotte that was coming to look at it??

Yes. But everything worked out, and I found my original owner (formerly Turbo) car at a farm 4 miles from my house. Very happy with it.

It was off the road for 4 years, so it needed some TLC. I am planning on doing the timing belt (water pump & tensioner) as soon as I can, as well as the front suspension rubber. I'd also like to lower it a little to the older model height, and remove the front bumper. I haven't decided if I'm going to remove the rear bumper or just push it in closer to the body, like Craig Brown's car in Scotland. Some shots of his car towards the bottom of pg 18 (cbrown1469). viewtopic.php?f=7&t=11813&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=255

I just posted a reply with a painted wheel shot on your tire post.

Giulio,
We have traded emails before. I am in Salisbury, NC. Here is a recent picture of my Spider after I installed Miata seats.

Yes, I remember Stan. I don't remember if I knew that your car is also brown, or is it the photo that makes it look so?

Glad you're interested.

Have a great Thanksgiving!

Please don't say that word. Seats from another car would be fine. :D

Giulio,

See if you can find NC Arachnid on the member list and try a PM.

He's from Charlotte and posted here regularly, but I haven't seen him in some time.

Thanks Doug. I already sent him an email.

Have you recovered from Sandy yet? I don't know if I told you, but I used to live in Asbury Park/Long Branch area in the early 80's when I had my '74 Spider.

Yes, I know! I kind of hated to do it, but the seats in my Spider were getting pretty ragged what with the upholstery and the "gangsta lean", and the seats from that "other" car were free! They are comfortable seats. I am going to have to put a cross bar on the roll bar to support the seat belt though.

Here's a picture of "The Mistress." I'm in Lake Wylie now but on December 14 moving back into Charlotte. I think I need to adjust the image size on photobucket) Oh, and my "street name" is Jim.

Stan - So our cars look very similar (hmm...except for those seats :) )

Jim - I like the green and she looks like she's in good shape. Image - right click (PC) or Control click (Mac) and select "View Image" to see the whole shot.

Can't wait to see all the cars in person.
