Greetings,
I'm in the middle of a suspension rebuild and I am replacing my old oil filled idler with the bearing style idler sole by Auto Ricambi. Do I have to pack the bearings with grease before installation? They look like sealed bearings, but I want to make sure before it all goes back together.
Thanks,
Brian

Re: AR replacement Idler
Just put one of those on. Wish I could have saved the old one; they are cool.
No where did I hear/read about packing the bearings. It def feels more like just "linkage" then any dampening.
Can't say I have driven yet, since I still need a free weekend to install my refurbed head, etc.
If you fond out otherwise, please post.

Re: AR replacement Idler
There is debate about this, and I had an email exchange with AR about it. It’s really up to you. I have not yet installed the idler, but my thought was that, because it is not sealed, packing the bearings with grease would simply attract road dirt and grit. I think I will use a dry lubricant instead. In any event, these are not bearings that are subject to high-speed or demanding use. It would probably be safe to use absolutely nothing.
