79 2000 Replacing ball joints

Postby barnesjtsl » Tue May 23, 2017 10:51 am

I have both control arms taken off. Took them to the car wash and cleaned them up. Getting ready to take an air hammer chisel to the rivets on the lower ball joints.

My question. I purchased new ball joints and they came with bolts for both the upper and lower. I have always thought that the lower needed to be riveted? Evidently I was wrong.

Can someone tell me what the torque should be for the bolts on the upper and lower ball joint? And have you had any experience with the bolted lower ball joint?

Thanks for any advice you can give,

perfectly normal for ball joints to be bolted.
screws need to be 8.8 or 10.9
