Hello,

I just bought a 1981 Spider 2000. I am mapping out the restoration and have a very annoying issue. I can hear the battery cover rattling in the trunk so I tried to secure it with various size nuts I have. Is this some sort of weird size nut that is needed as I have every size imaginable and of the life of me I cannot find anything that fits to secure the battery!

BTW, this site is very nice and I love the help everyone provides.

Thank you,

Ryan Davis

Should be 6mm 1.0 studs for the cover. The OEM nuts were rather large outside so they could be worked with just your fingers. Someone here likely has some extras or you can use normal nuts with fender washers.

Welcome to the lifestyle.

Before I sourced the original plastic knurled knobs for the battery box, I purchased a couple of rubber grommets at the Ace-True Value etc. Hardware that just held the nut tightly and used that. It worked great, you can spin them on and off without a tool.
