NEW owner of a 82 Spider 2000... need Orlando Mechanic

Postby thewired1 » Mon Mar 20, 2017 2:33 pm

Hi! I just bought an 82 Spider 2000. It apparently isn't as reliable as the seller claimed and I need some assistance. The car won't turn over (replaced all ceramic fuses, checked in-line fuses, thinking about replacing the fuel-pump relay, and worries about ECU issues) and there are some brake issues as well.

Can anyone recommend a mechanic in the Orlando area that works on Fiats? I have some recommendations from Tampa area and east coast but both are a little too far to tow the car.

Thanks in advance!

Hi there. As for a mechanic in the area, sorry can't help, live a gazillion kilometers away.
One thing over time, is that you will become a decent trouble shooter and fiat repair guy when you source a good repair manual and a few metric tools.
In this instance you mentioned it does not turn over... a volt meter will let you know what the voltage is at the battery or at the terminal at the starter. Have you tried bump starting it? 3rd ? gear and get it rolling and see what happens when the clutch is released. Decent/ new fuel is a real good idea.
Start with simple solutions that you can figure out before paying shop rates for simple fixes. after a tow to boot.
