Site rules and ethics

Postby spider2081 » Tue Jan 31, 2017 4:22 pm

Does this site have posted rules regarding behavior and or type of acceptable or unacceptable language that is tolerated.
Does this site have posted rules for business that use this site for the promotion of their products??
I have been a contributing member her since 2003 and from time to time I feel some of the language here is inappropriate. I don't like to see name calling or 4 letter gutter language intermixed with member responses.
Lately I am seeing more and more liberties taken in these ares and am wondering to what extent it will be tolerated.

In order to view the TOS you need to log out and click on "Register".  It's mainly intended for the newbies to read when they apply to FS. We, on the other hand are assumed to already know this. Basically we agree not to be abusive toward others and to treat them in the same  way we would like to be treated.  This site does not state any protocols regarding vendors promoting their products so that's a privilege in itself for everyone.
Let's face it, this is not a Skyline forum, it's not riddled with teenage testo-thrived hard heads.  Generally  good behavior presides on this site.  Occasionally some of the members get banned when a dispute arises amongst each other or with the moderator, but it's his job to clear all the noise out of the way in order for us to focus on the site's objectives.
Last week  a vendor abruptly lashed out at member for no reason who in turn was not shy to fire back in a short and unsweet manner.  It's punishment enough that this vendor gets tossed out with today's trash but it dwarfs the amount of damage it will do to his business.  He does not realize that he just lashed out at a senior member who is shy of 5500 posts and is also spending tens of thousands of dollars currently building a show car.  That's a potential customer that's not going to do business with him.  Neither will I.  When he gets named, nobody else on this site will provide him any business either.  The other forum has already figured him out.  He will eventually get named on Facebook, then shared to Fiat Club America members, on to google reviews and then he's done.  I hope he's reading this, but he never even cared enough to login after the fact.  That's a "troll".
I'm not a high contributor of advice on the forum but i do sit back and absorb tons of useful information daily and i appreciate it.  That said, my donation to this site is in the bag.
Good day everyone.

+1. This is one of the few places on the web that overwhelming has a mature, polite membership. I entrust that the ownership, Moderator, and most importantly the participants will keep it that way.

You were justified in your response, in my opinion. The initial comment was unprofessional and uncalled for.

Sorry for the rude words

Thanks. Just so you know I appreciate your comments and questions on the site and I was not seeking an apology from you.

My issue is the site has a moderator and I feel one of the functions of a moderator is to enforce a sites rules or bi-laws. I didn't know how to find the rules and Ari helped me with that. Additionally I have been on other car sites where the bantering and language is totally unacceptable. The cars become second to the banter. I would hate to see that happen here. I am retired and have the time to monitor the Fiat chat rooms regularly. For me its fun and I have learned a lot about the cars.

Best of luck with your restore project.

Hey Everyone,
As founder and owner of this site I take the responsibility of keeping this site friendly and useful very seriously.
I am not able to actively monitor everything that goes on up here so I will rely on all of you to let me know if there is there is a situation involving inappropriate language or behavior. Just PM either myself or Mark here on the forum. I have not posted or written many site specific rules, because to be honest, 99% of the time this place is a shinning example of a great forum community with mature, helpful and friendly participants. Sorry to hear that there was what sounds like an ugly exchange up here. Just let me know if I need to step in and help.

On another note, I'd like to thank those of you so far that have pitched in with donations for our annual push to cover costs associated with the site. Thank You! That's why why this site is free to use and has been online for twenty years now!

Y'all take care, Spring is just around the corner!
