Changing Differential oil...

Postby Fiat88 on Mon Mar 08, 2010 10:06 pm

So, in a week or so I want to change my differential oil. I have some questions since I've never changed diff. oil before...

1. What's the specific gear oil to use on my '79 auto? Any recommended brand? Thanks Fellow-Fiat guys & gals.

I dont think they are too type specific.Any 75-90w gear oil will work.A lot of people use synthetic.I just bought gear oil from NAPA today to change the diff oil in my 76.

That will work.It is a synthetic and pretty pricey.I just use plain gear oil, which was $5 a quart.I got it at NAPA ,but all parts stores handle it.Seems to work just fine.

It is 1.3 liters(3.1 pints).I dont know if it is packaged the same where you are,but 1 U.S. quart will do it.

3.1 pints is equal to one quart?
Is that new southern math? How about 1 1/2 quarts.
